Taken together, these methods are complementary, because each spectral range interrogates a different component of the object to form a multispectral image set, which can be compared and interpreted to yield a more holistic view of the piece. The interpretation of multispectral image sets will not be addressed here as this will vary greatly depending on the types of objects investigated and the period they are from.
